New York Bagels
Business summary: NY Bagels is a market leader in the baking and selling of traditional “New York” style bagels. The company was setting up a new purpose built facility for the making and despatch of bagel products.

The challenge: The company wanted safe flooring, made to last, that would meet HAACP approval and their own high standards of quality and hygiene. With two manufacturing areas, cold rooms, freezers, storage and distribution areas, the flooring would need to able to withstand wide temperature ranges and high traffic. It was also important that the floor run to waste.
Food Flooring solution: Talking to the client, we learned that the storage and dispatch areas were not going to be used to food production or hosed clean. So it made sense to put different surfaces down in these areas than in production. In production, we used Ucrete DP10, which is resistant up to 130°.An epoxy mortar screed was used to create the 1 in 80 falls. For storage and distribution we put down an epoxy Roll Coat finish with mild non-slip properties, to provide a sealed, easy to clean, slip resistant surface.
Results: The company was happy with the recommendation to treat the two areas differently. This made both functional and economic sense.
