MXP Case Study: MXP Holdings Springvale
Business summary: MXP Holdings was establishing a new export-standard boning room in Springvale. They wanted a flooring solution for the entire facility.
Area Size: 300m2
The challenge: The floor needed to be able to handle extreme cold, wash down practices and be slip resistant. It was also crucial to provide grading out from the walls so that no water gathered under work areas and benches. The non production areas of the facility also needed flooring, but to suit different traffic and temperature conditions.
Food Flooring solution: Water-dispersed polyurethane concrete topping was installed throughout the production areas. This was 4mm in work areas and 6mm in the freezer and cool rooms – to cope with the thermal issues that can arise. In other areas (lunch room and offices), where there was going to be reduced traffic load and zero thermal shock, we installed a 3mm epoxy screed.
Results: The final installation on this project consisted of up to five different systems to suit different parts of the facility. The client was particularly satisfied by this level of planning and preparation as it meant that the tailored solution met their exact needs and was extremely cost effective.
